Research
As part of the mission of the academic medical institution, all of the pediatric departments at Stony Brook Children’s participate in the teaching of tomorrow's professionals and creating a pipeline of specialty physicians and dentists for the community. In addition, they are engaged in the search for new and better ways of preventing, diagnosing, managing patient care and treating disease, as well as a greater understanding of disease causes and mechanisms.
Education
The Stony Brook University School of Dental Medicine is among the elite research-intensive dental schools in the nation, being ranked 15th in 2009 among NIH/NIDCR-funded dental schools.
