In February of 2017, the American College of Surgeons (ACS) formally verified Stony Brook Trauma Center as the highest-level trauma center for adults and children after a rigorous survey visit. This makes Stony Brook Suffolk County's only Adult and Pediatric Level 1 Trauma Center.
