Specialized Medicine

Stony Brook Children’s offers access to 180 pediatric specialists covering more than 30 pediatric specialties, as well as a staff of nurses, therapists, social workers, Child Life Specialists and others. All our providers and staff are specially trained to understand what it's like for children of every age and stage of development, facing hospitalization.

Our physicians work together with the pediatric care specialists and family members to deliver coordinated care and keep families at the center of healthcare decision-making. And because Stony Brook Medicine is the only academic medical center in Suffolk County, families have access to groundbreaking research and clinical trials.

State-of-the-art NICU

The NICU at Stony Brook Children’s is the first in New York State with all private rooms for each baby. This means that light, sound, temperature and other factors can be adjusted to best suit your baby’s needs — and provide optimal bonding opportunities for families. One in 10 babies born today require care in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Learn more.
